David Warner can continue his ipl career under SRH?

by you-know-nothing

David Warner is one of the most iconic cricketers in the IPL. He had a memorable stint with the Delhi Daredevils team and has since moved on to being the greatest icon for the people of Hyderabad as he has been a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team and also lead them to the IPL success in the 2016 version of the IPL. He has been known for his antics both on and off the field. His dances on Telegu and Hindi songs with his family go viral and there has been news of there being a restaurant named after him too.

His iconic stature was put aside though he has been going through a really rough patch in his career as a player. He has been in and out of the national side and even with his IPL Side, his performances have taken a beating off late. It was evident when his personal form also mirrored the form of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team when in the first half of the IPL 2021, the Sunrisers team lost 7 out of their 8 games in the tournament. This forced the management to take a decision that certainly disappointed his fans and took him out of the captaincy role. A role that was handed over to Kane Williamson. A change that would also see him being left out of the side as a player.

So, what is seemingly going wrong with the Aussie legend? Warner has been known to be an aggressive player ever since he started playing the game. He was known for not mending his ways as an attacking player even in the longer format of the game. He was known to be particularly harsh to the balls bowled to him outside the off-stump.

However, with the technology that is available to experts all over the world and the kind of analysis that goes into every minuscule detail of a batsman’s technique, bowlers have been able to figure out a plan to him. This was evident particularly in the 2019 world cup where the Indian bowlers Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar kept the batsman on a tight rope by bowling closer to his body. This has been replicated all over the world and that has restricted his scoring areas. In the test match arena, the captains have started keeping the point out and his favorite square cut is no longer a huge run-scoring option for him.

So, the big question that looms with the imminent resumption of the IPL is what can be expected from the swashbuckling batsman in the coming phase of the tournament for SRH. He is in that phase of his career which the experts usually call as an expected dip in the form of a player.

Warner however with the covid related lockdowns and his injuries has got a lot of time to spend in his home and away from the game. This would’ve helped him do some soul searching. The final few games that will take place now in the second phase of the IPL would be a great time for him to swing back into form. With the mega auctions already announced for the coming year, a bad performance in the coming games may force the IPL team to take a business decision and maybe part ways with their iconic player. This could open up opportunities for him and for the player too to maybe rediscover his form with another IPL team. It would be fun to see how the experts predict his performance while giving Fantasy Cricket Tips.
